Ministry of the Environment in Brazil launches a Country-wide Sustainability Program:

Developed in 2011, Brazil’s Ministry of the Environment has recently launched a program called “Action Plan for Sustainable Production and Consumption” or PPCS (in Portuguese). This program addresses the following 6 key actions to achieve a Sustainable Conscience:

These activities call for the interaction among government agencies, joint efforts with private companies and civil population, the institution of new recycle symbols, and the identification of over 1,000 Brazilian products. Brazil’s Ministry of the Environment has set three goals to complete the outreach of this program by the year 2020 including increase Brazil’s recycling by 25%; incorporate 50% of Brazil’s retail (supermarket) sector to the PPCS Program and increase the environmental and sustainable performance of Brazil’s construction sector by 20%.
